Melodyne Can I Auto Tune With A Trial
Learn how to use Autotune. The modern music producer/engineer has an array of production tools for editing vocals. Thanks to the rapid development of technology we now have an arsenal of vocal pitch correction software available at a reasonable price. Most of this software ranges from $100 to $400.
There are lots of pitch correction apps out there but my ‘go-to’ is Melodyne and Autotune by Antares.
Important note:
To get the most out of this information you should have some basic understanding and familiarity of these plug-ins. This is not an article on how to use Melodyne or AutoTune individually, but rather how to use them together to create the ultimate pitch correction combo.
In terms of detailed editing and pitch manipulation with the least amount of noise artifacts, Melodyne is undoubtedly the best I’ve worked with. You can correct notes that are off-pitch. You can change the lengths of notes. You can fix any unnecessary pitch drift by your vocalist, alter melodies, create harmonies, and the list goes on.
When you have finished using the Melodyne 4 trial version, you can simply download from your user account the installation program for your previous Melodyne and reinstall it, thereby restoring your existing working environment. Alternatively, you can copy your existing Melodyne plug-ins from your plug-in folder. However, on the positive side, most Melodyne users would argue that Melodyne is capable of much more than excellent pitch correction — it can be used to completely change both the pitch and timing of a melodic phrase in ways that Auto-Tune cannot — and in that sense, is also a creative tool rather than only a corrective one. Jun 04, 2017 For me, Auto-Tune is there for automatic, exaggerated pitch correction, live or after the fact. Melodyne is there for manual pitch correction after the fact. With Melodyne, I refrain from doing any heavy correction with it, just small adjustments to tighten up a performance.
- Jul 26, 2014 Melodyne's auto correct places the center pitch of each blob 100 percent in the center of the closest note, but if there is a lot of drift inside the note that won't change. With Editor, you can correct drift. Also, if you have an older version of Sonar Studio or Producer installed, you should have V-Vocal.
- Melodyne lets you work with audio in an entirely new way. One that is musical, nifty, crystal-clear and almost magical. Working with Melodyne is like being able to say to a singer “hold this note a bit longer” or to a pianist “give slightly less weight to the third in this chord” – hours, weeks, even years after the recording session.
AutoTune
Made famous by TPain, Autotune, can be a great resource for pitch correction. For demonstration purposes I will be using Antares stripped down version of Autotune called AutoTune Efx. Despite its simplicity, AutoTune Efx can yield some pretty good results when used in conjunction with Melodyne.
There are problems you can run into with AutoTune that can make it sound like garbage. An example of this is if you’re dealing with a singer that can’t control the vibrato in their voice. Vibrato is a pulsating effect caused by rapid variations in pitch over a course of time. Too much irregular, uncontrolled vibrato makes AutoTune sound like a bag of smashed crabs. This is why I like to process my vocals with Melodyne before running them through AutoTune.
With Melodyne, I can control the pitch drift and tuning of the recorded information and thus I can better dictate the quality of the effect AutoTune will have on it.
Here is a screenshot of Melodyne. You will see 2 versions loaded up. One called ‘dry vox’ and another called ‘vox with melo’. Click on the image for a full size view.
Take a look at the pitch drift noted by the red line running through the bodies of the orange notes. You’ll notice that the red line running through the ‘dry vox’ is all over the place while the ‘vox with melo’ has much more of a constant and even pitch drift. This was manipulated with Melodyne. You will also see that the notes in the ‘vox with melo’ are corrected and tuned.
Take a listen and pay attention to the progression of these audio samples from start to finish.
Here is the ‘dry vox’ take which has no pitch correction used:

Here is the vox with melodyne applied.
https://www.platinumloops.com/audio-player/vox_with_melo.mp3As you can hear it sounds much better, but there are a few notes that still need work. This is where AutoTune comes in. With a fairly even pitch drift and all syllables falling on an exact note in the melodic scale, AutoTune will shine and offer some clean pitch correction to the notes that still need some work. The result is a much smoother effect especially if you’re looking for a bit of that Autotune feel that’s still popular these days.
Here is the vox with Melodyne and AutoTune applied:
https://www.platinumloops.com/audio-player/vox_with_melo_and_auto.mp3Now the vox sounds pretty good. It needs to be cleaned up a little but we have something solid to work with.
Here is the master mix so you have an idea on how it will sit in the mix as a finished product.
https://www.platinumloops.com/audio-player/master_mix.mp3Sounds great! Be sure to read some of my previous articles if you’re not up to speed on how to record and process vocals and how to creatively breathe life into a vocal performance. This master mix incorporates all of these techniques to produce a complete hook/chorus for this song.
Don’t be scared to experiment with pitch correction software. In this particular instance I used the strengths of Melodyne to compensate for some of the limitations and irregularities of AutoTune. Be creative and resourceful in these type of situations and you’ll accomplish great sounds with ease.
u-he. Vst cracked torrent free.
If you really liked the beat used in the example, check out the PlatinumLoops product release Epic Dubstep Samples – that’s where it came from and the sample pack is bangin’!
Dec 06, 2012 Question: Q: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 Bootcamp help? On my previous Mac, I was able to partition my harddrive and run Windows, including games and programs based exclusively for Windows. I attempted to do that with my newer Mac (Late 2011 model), with OS X Lion installed (Windows XP), and I seem to have lost my disc to install the lion drivers on. Aug 06, 2011 From the Mac OS X 10.7 installation media, there are no Windows driver bundles like in previous Mac OS X versions. So if Apple Software Update doesn't download anything, Boot Camp Assistant doesn't download anything, and there is nothing to install if you have a 10.7 DVD, how are you supposed to install drivers under Windows? Mac os x 10.7.5 boot camp windows 7 32 bit.
| what's up everyone? Hope everyone's new year is off to a good start.. Im just wondering if anyone knows of any good auto-tune plug ins we can buy that work well with studio one. I have artist 3.3. I saw melodyne but I think that is a little pricey, anyone have suggestions? thank you! |
| Melodyne doesn't do auto-tune. It does do pitch-correction but not live. One of the cheapest plugins that does auto-tune that I know of is Izotope's Nectar Elements. If you do a lot of work with vocals, I'd recommend getting the full Nectar 2 Suite as it gives you more control as well as a lot more functions, options, and effects. | ryanreilly wroteI have artist 3.3. First you need this to use third party plugins. |
| Waves Tune is a great Melodyne alternative, and is very affordable, especially when on sale by itself or part of the Vocal Bundle. I actually prefer the interface to Melodyne's. It's similar where I want it to be and different where I want it to be. For the old set it and forget it kind of tuning, Waves Tune Real-Time does this. You set your scale, standard or custom set of notes, and then set how quickly you want the correction to be done, along with a bunch of other settings. I personally don't usually use this type of tool, but it's very good at what it's intended for. 5,1 Mac Pro 2.4GHz 8-Core 2011 16GB RAM 2018 MacBook Air 13' Studio One 3.5 Presonus 24c Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Mackie 802-VLZ3 |
